7 Fun Off-Season Activities to Enjoy at Lake of the Ozarks

At Lake Ozark Vacation Destinations, we think one of the greatest features about the Lake of the Ozarks is the diverse choice of things to do that are available all year round. Some people tend to only think about summertime activities when considering spending time at the lake.  But, as the premier provider of vacation rental homes at the Lake of the Ozarks, we know that the lake area has something to offer no matter what the season or weather.   If you are interested in learning about some fun off-season activities that you can enjoy any time you vacation at the Lake of the Ozarks, keep reading this blog!

1) Caving

As you know, Missouri is the cave state, and Lake of the Ozarks has its share of incredible caverns.  With several commercial caves available as well as those in area State Parks, you have something to explore no matter what the temperature is outside.

2) Hiking

Hiking on the many trails in the State Parks can be much more comfortable when it cools down in the fall and once the leaves fall, you will be AMAZED at how much more of the land and the lake you can see without the lush foliage.

3) Ice Skating

Another advantage to cooler temperatures ... ice skating is possible.  Enjoy a great atmosphere with fire pits and hot chocolate while you test your skating skills.  Don't worry, ice walkers are available if you are new to the sport or feel a little unsteady on the ice.

4) Local Breweries, Wineries, and Distilleries

You might be surprised at the options available in a small area.  We have several brewpubs whose owners have a true passion for creating fresh and delicious beer, as well as wineries producing their own special varieties and blends with Missouri-grown grapes. We even have a family-owned and run distillery at the Lake making craft bourbon, moonshine and vodka.  The tour is fascinating and well worth the time!

5) Fishing

Fishing at the Lake of the Ozarks doesn’t end when summer does, and fishermen and women don’t seem to mind the cold as long as the fish are biting! It definitely helps when you have a dock to fish or launch from and a warm vacation rental home waiting for you! Lake Ozark VacationDestinations can help you with that.

6) Indoor Swimming

There are also a few resorts at the lake that have indoor pools or water parks that are open to the public whether you are staying there or not. From lazy rivers to indoor water slides to lap pools, there is something to suit any swimming enthusiast.

7) Arcades & Go Carts

While they may have limited hours in the off-season, you still have the option of going go-carting or taking yourself back to your childhood with an exciting day at the arcade.  From ski ball to driving games to Space Invaders, it can be a great way to bond with the younger generation while testing your competitive skills.

Our family got into the vacation rental business at the Lake of the Ozarks because of how much we love spending time at the lake as a family.  We have found that the lake area is just as much fun in the “off-season” if you only know where to look.  In fact, locals know you can spend the entire fall and winter exploring and still not run out of things to do here.  When you are ready to book a vacation, we are here to help you find lodging options at Lake of the Ozarks to make that vacation all you want it to be! You can even search properties on our website by location to be closest to the action you like the most.  At Lake Ozark Vacation Destinations, we are honored to help families make the kinds of memories that we have treasured making with ours.  For more news and information about vacationing at the Lake of the Ozarks, be sure to follow us on social media using the channels below.
