Stress-Relief Tips
Practice your breathing.
You may be surprised at how relaxed you can feel after just focusing on your breathing. Take a few slow breaths. Breathe in deeply and then release. Make the time to do this each day. Make the time for yourself. You can't take care of others until you take care of yourself.
Do some stretching.
Take a few moments out of your day to get up and stretch your muscles. If you work at a computer most days, then take the time to stretch your neck and your hands from all the typing. Stretch your back and legs from all the sitting. Take the time to stretch whatever hurts on a regular basis. Make the time for you.
Eat healthy foods.
Stress-eating is a REAL struggle. Poor food choices such as fried fast foods may seem like a good idea at the time, but in reality, you actually may be adding to your stress. Don't give in to that temptation. Eat a healthy selection of fruits, veggies, and grains.
Write your feelings down.
Do you ever feel overwhelmed? Whether you just need to vent about a work situation or you've got issues with a close friend, sometimes writing your feelings down can help relieve some of the stress. You can air out your issues in a healthy way.
Listen to happy music.
Find your motivational song of choice and blast it on your musical device! Whether you're in your car and just sitting and working from home, some motivational music can do you some good.
Last but certainly not least, take a VACATION. Sometimes things just get overwhelming and there's no shame in that. That can just be a part of life. Whenever you recognize this happening to you, give yourself the time you need to recharge! Taking a vacation to the Lake of the Ozarks can be a great way to do that! Rent a boat and cruise around the Lake. Find a quiet cove to lay out and catch some sun rays in. Go fishing. Go discover a new wine at one of the many wineries in town. The sky is the limit here!
